Fifth and sixth graders from Hancock participated in Math Masters this spring, a regional math competition that matched them up with other 5th and 6th grade teams around the state. Math Masters mathematics competition program challenges 5th and 6th grade students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics. Students compete as individuals and on teams in eight rounds of competition held in March and April each year.
The sixth grade team of Stephanie Weber, Kaytlynn Kenyon, Isaac Messner, Wyatt Koehl, and Eli Feuchtenberger placed 6th out of 19 teams. Wyatt Koehl placed the highest as an individual, ranking 19th out of 92 competitors.
The fifth grade team of Jett Nuest, Hudson Scott, Beau Haugen, Kate Schaefer, and Abigail Boon earned medals for their 4th place finish out of 25 teams. Beau Haugen also earned a medal for the individual rounds, placing 6th out of 123 students.
